Using the newest version of freeciv

Freeciv 2.1.0-Beta3 is the latest version of Freeciv. At this moment it's almost as stable as the the current freeciv version. So what do you say about using the Beta freeciv for the next game, if that can be arranged is it something you want?

the new versuion is really buggy, you should play with it atm.

I haven't had time to vote

I haven't had time to vote before the poll closed, but I would go for the newest version. That's how progress works and I'm no luddite ^^.

Actually I have no problems

Actually I have no problems with beta4 at all, all the bugs I've been able to find in the other betas have been fixed, or worked around.

I think we should try this beta, LTs run for a long while so I think it would be a very good idea to change to something mondern.

Could you please tell us more about the new diplomacy rules?

"the next game" is still in

"the next game" is still in an undefined future. If any 2.0 game is still in progress then starting a 2.1 game would force players to have two Freeciv versions installed. That would be inconvenient, at least for me. If there would be only one game I thing 2.1 may be a good choice. And if (when) 2.1 is stable and really a big improvement over 2.0 I may even do the inconvenient step and install the second Freeciv client.
As for now, I abstain.

I'm strongly against using

I'm strongly against using 2.1 branch before it stabilizes (that is - before its out of the beta phase). There undoubtly are reasons why it haven't done so yet.

While new features could be a boon (especially new diplomacy and border rules ;-)), I'm afraid it will be either unstable or unwieldy to play - for example, when due to stability problems server would have to be upgraded, we all might be forced to upgrade clients.

Nota bene: it seems to be 2.1-beta4, at the moment.

I'm pro. Freeciv 2.1 has

I'm pro.

Freeciv 2.1 has lot of nice features, and I think we should try them.

Similar features are in warserver, but I think that it's too hermetic. I prefer classic freeciv.
