I suggest we change the specials setting. It configures the number of special resources per thousand tiles.
The default for freeciv is 250. It means 2.5% of the map has a special tile. We left this default setting for LTXIII.
Most recent longturn games have used the value 100.
My reason for adding the poll is that I incorrectly thought Vonzgred's capital city last game had 6 resources. In fact he only had 5, but we may as well keep the poll anyway now that it has been started.
Setting in the core server settings.
specials - Amount of "special" resource squares
Minimum: 0, Default: 250, Maximum: 1000
What specials setting should we use in LTXIV ?

6 bonuses???? :-)
6 bonuses???? :-)
5
5 of them.
2xfish, oil, buffalo, crop
If anyone wants to argue, I can send screens.
And 5 is pretty normal; noone forces you to build capital in spot with no bonuses, right?
As for specials, my 5 did not contribute to victory. If specials were responsible, you lost because of 3 at Turku. 3x gold :)
30
one special per player :)
It means 30 per 1000 tiles
On a map of 20,000 tiles there would 30*20 specials.
So an average of one per city if we all had 20 cities.
oh, I meant one special per
oh, I meant one special per player, so I mean 1.5 :D

I think in LTXIII there was an inflation in the worth of the bonuses. I would suggest to decrease the value, even though I'm not playing this LT.
Bonuses are not bonuses anymore. It becomes standard to have every city with at least three 'bonuses'.

does "worth" == "number"?
It probably worth pointing out that although it was possible to get 3 bonuses/city, many cities were not placed with 3 bonuses.
Specials math
I saw you posted specials: 250 means each tile has 2.5% chance of being special.
I think actually 250 means 25% chance, or one in every four squares.
Basically, it is a three digit percentage, which might more accurately be called per-thousand (or something along those lines).
specials: 250 means that a city with 21 squares will have 4 - 5 specials in its range.
specials: 30 would mean that 3% of all the tiles would be special.
I would prefer to see anywhere from 6 - 15 % (60 - 150)
Yes, I agree - 250 means 25%
I made a mistake in the percentage calculation earlier - thanks. Sadly I can no longer update the post accordingly. My choice remains 100, or 10% which gives each city about 2 specials each.
