LTXIV - Removing the caravan trade

Shall we remove caravans and freight from the game.

We have already discussed changing the caravan trading rules for LTXIV because LTXIII used the standard rules unlike LT11 onwards. The options mentioned include.

1. No caravans
2. Experimental caravans.
3. Standard caravans.
4. Experimental caravans and decrease the number of trade slots.
5. Mixed version. Experimental arrival bonus, and standard revenue.

The terminology I use is that used on the freeciv wikia.

The experimental setting refers to the Warclient system which has been well tested both on longturn and warserver games.

At present the patch for Warclient caravans is only for Freeciv 2.0. We cannot create a vote on this issue until such a patch is created for the version of Freeciv 2.1 to be used in LTXIV.

Without that patch the vote would only have two options. Standard caravans or none at all.

The patches did not appear so the vote is only about removing the caravans and freight entirely.

Setting in the units.ruleset.
Adding the flag no_build removes caravans and freight.
Without the flag allows them.

it's hopeless .. I bet wast majority will vote no, but it's worth to try :)

I voted No, but my real vote

I voted No, but my real vote is for mixed version. Experimental arrival is not so high to destroy the balance, and common bonus from normal routes is good too(i`m talking about situation with route with the same player on the same landmass)

Hoping the mixed version can be added next time.

I decided to yes. Why not give smallpox a try?

My real preference would be the mixed version but alas we have no patch.

to be honest - caravanless game also points to the same thing everytime. It's deterministic too.

But , I prefer caravanless :)

I've proposed "decrease the number of trade slots", but maho rejected. Prey, such an option doesn't exist in the standard freeciv (only warclient).

The game without caravans leads in pointless smpox.
