Teams so far?

How do you think teams are working so far?

There is one thing I'm not sure of and that is how to handle idle players and players that make stupid mistakes (IMHO of course).

First idleness, this is actually a lot easier to solve in Teams games, I think the team should be able to take over idlers directly, no turn should be lost because of idleness..

Second stupid mistakes, we really need an in game way of saying "WTF are you doing please explain". There might actually be a reason for stupid mistakes, they might even be a very insightful moves. Though it's impossible to know this if you don't communicate.

Well, I must admit I screwed

Well, I must admit I screwed up big time by disappearing for a while when the game was reset :P

An in-game way of communicating would be interesting. I am not very well versed on Freeciv's underlying software, but could the server be set up to hold messages for when players log in?

For example, in the Chat window, someone could write: "Picklesworth: Build something, y`idiot!". The server would recognize that the message is aimed at me and store it for me when I log in later.

Picklesworth, I left you a

Picklesworth, I left you a message inside the game yesterday. I hope you found it :)

Indeed I did.

Indeed I did. (Unfortunately, my timing was a tad off. The situation may clear up next turn...)

That's an interesting way to leave messages. Definitely not the most secure, though :p

I think it is just part of

I think it is just part of the game. Hopefully "mistakes" are made by newbie players on both sides to balance things out. It is also part of the skill of working as a team, coaching weaker members in your team and protecting them from the big nasty pro players.

I agree, that is all part of

I agree, that is all part of the fun of playing.
War simulation should not be perfect and I think
everything is well, that way.
We should learn to cope with these problems on the
level of the game instead of trying to change the rules
on a higher level.
